MYSTERY

There are things we do not need to understand at once.

Not everything has to be named, explained and revealed.

Some things need time.
A different light.
A different way of looking.

MYSTERY is about exactly that.

Two canvases form one space: dark, deep, almost nocturnal.

In the depths of bottle green, gold and copper appear, but their presence is not constant.

In one light they are almost invisible.
In another they begin to blaze.

From one viewpoint the painting says something different than from another.

It changes with the time of day.
It changes with the light.
It changes with us.

Perhaps that is why we need mystery.

Because when we want to know everything at once, there is less and less room left for wonder, anticipation and discovery.

And yet not everything hidden wants to be found.

Sometimes it is enough to stay with the question.

And to look.

Until something we had not seen before
suddenly appears in the light.

The work was made so that its character changes with the viewing angle and with the kind and direction of light. The gold-copper areas reflect light in different ways, so the piece never looks quite the same over the course of a day.

Some paintings are looked at.
Others are discovered.
